Lady Tigers Host Lady Cardinals and Drop Home Opener in Three

The Raton Lady Tigers hosted the Lady Cardinals from Robertson High Tuesday evening September 1st for their season and home opener in Tiger Gym with both the JV and Varsity teams losing both matches 2-0 and 3-0.

In the two JV games Robertson dominated taking an early lead and not looking back. When it was all said and done the the girls were outscored by more than 12 points in both games.

The varsity girls didn’t fair much better as Robertson took an early lead in game one and just kept on going. Raton seemed to find the groove in game two as they kept it tied early on. Robertson found the spark and pulled ahead with strong play at the net and keeping the vollies going until Raton missed a shot or put one out of bounds.

Game three looked good for Raton in the beginning as they pulled out in front but allowed Robertson to tie at seven. Robertson then got the advantage and took the lead and just started packing on the points and pulling away holding Raton almost scoreless the remainder of the game.
