Linda Jo Long, a resident of Chino Valley, AZ, passed away June 18, 2026, at the age of 78. Linda was born in Amarillo, Texas to Jack and Myrtle Long who ranched in Cuervo, Endee, and later Wagon Mound, New Mexico. After graduation (class of “66) from Wagon Mound, New Mexico (Go Trojans!) Linda attended Eastern New Mexico University and moved to Santa Fe and worked for “Ma Bell” as an operator. Linda moved to Missoula, Montana with friends and worked for Western Montana Linen Supply for two years and De Marois Oldsmobile/GMC as Financial Secretary for 8 years. In 1980 Linda moved to Phoenix, AZ to be closer to family. Linda worked for the International Union of Electrical Workers Local 266 as Office Manager and retired after 30 years. Linda was a member of the Office and Professional Workers Local 30, served on various committees and held offices in OPEIU and served on various committees which negotiated wage contracts, working conditions, time, and benefits for all members. Linda was the first woman President of the Arizona Industrial Relations Association and was invited to the Arizona Town Hall in 2003 focusing on the future of health care and uninsured workers. Upon retirement she moved to Chino Valley where family is located.
Linda is preceded in death by her parents Jack and Myrtle Long and sister and husband Neatha and (Gilbert) Robinson. Linda is survived by Brother Richard (Maria) Scott, Sister Celia (Floyd) Dugan, Sister Judy (Donny) Gray, Nephew Steve, (Jody) Robinson, Neice Lucy (Robert) Grimes, Elizabeth, Clayton, and Michael, Neice Gayle (Garett) Faulkenbery, Caslyn, and Colton. Linda was close to her family; the young people she mentored and made lifetime friends in her various occupations and residences over the years and will be missed.
Linda loved the western lifestyle and rodeo and was always at her core a cowgirl and a rancher’s daughter! Ride out and kick up some Dust!
Celebration of life will be held August 29, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. at Primrose Courtyard, 1304 N St 89, Chino Valley, Arizona. In lieu of flowers please donate to a charity of your choice.
