Edith Rose Raught, age 57, passed away Sunday morning, July 19, 2026, in Santa Fe, New Mexico. She was born in Hugoton, Kansas. Edith grew up in Colfax County; she mostly lived in Raton and Cimarron.
Edith was known by many names, her kids called her Mom and Rose, many called her Flocha, her sisters called her E’da, her grandkids called her grandma E’da and most of her friends just called her Edith.
Edith worked at Philmont Boy Scout Ranch in the museum and in the commissary. She also worked at Ben Franklin’s in Cimarron.
Edith was one of a kind, she was a loving mother, sister, aunt, grandmother and friend to many. There are not enough words to describe the impact she had made on so many lives, she was so strong, when she would get ill and go to the hospital, she would bounce back and be back home before you knew it. Edith loved playing Skip-Bo and drinking coffee with Grama Annie, they both enjoyed watching The Price is Right with Bob Barker, Edith loved going to the Casino with her sisters. and scratching lottery tickets, but if the only thing in life that we do is leave memories, she defiantly accomplished that.
Edith was preceded in death by her parents, Georgia Mitotes and Frank Raught, two sisters Carol Cuevas and Cynthia Lopez, two brothers-in-laws Richard Griego and Patrick Salazer, her nephew Jarrod Sanchez (aka Deano). Nicolas P. and Annie Cardenas (Tata Nick and Grama Annie).
She is survived by one brother Thomas Constable of Santa Fe, and six sisters Cheryl Griego, Marilynn Sanchez her husband Paul, Deana Raught, Libby Sanchez and her fiancé Eric Jones, Mary Borquez (partner Juana Tafoya) all of Raton New Mexico. Kelcey Raught of Odessa, Texas. Her four sons, Darrel (partner Angela Sparks), Nicolas Jr., Patrick and Zayden Cardenas all of Raton, New Mexico. Three grandkids Elayna, Anthony and Luna Cardenas all of Raton, New Mexico. Nicolas J. Cardenas, father to the boys (partner Pamela Taylor) and numerus nieces, nephews and cousins.

The Cardenas family is so thankful to the numerous medical personnel who provided their mother with loving care while she was in the hospital.
