Chris “Powder” Jamison, 47, of Raton, New Mexico, passed away on October 1, 2026. He was born on March 31, 1979, in Raton to Roberta Kaplan Schwede. Raton was always home to Chris, and he loved it.
In 1998, at 19, Chris started at Rocky Mountain Metals and, through nearly 28 years of hard work, rose to become General Manager. He knew the business from the ground up and earned the respect of everyone who worked alongside him.
Chris married Janell Garcia in August of 2007 and together they had three beautiful children: Jaycee Ann, Dalis Christina, and Blade Christopher.
Chris was a big guy with an even bigger heart. He never said no when someone needed a hand, and because he could fix just about anything, people were always calling on him for help. He was loved by everyone who knew him. Friends and coworkers will remember that he always had a joke ready or something funny to say, and he could make anyone laugh. He spent many hours at practices and games, cheering on his kids from the sidelines. When he did find time for himself, he was happiest tinkering around with some project in the garage or taking in the views of the beautiful property he was so proud to call his. He enjoyed riding his Harley, pulling back his bow, and fishing at Lake Maloya with his buddy, Butch. Above all, he was a devoted husband and a proud father.
He is survived by his loving wife, Vicki; his children, Jaycee and Blade Jamison; his mom, Jo Ann, and Tom Roman; his sister, Sheena Martinez (Michael); and sister-in-law, Brenda Baca (Jim Dunford). He is also survived by his stepchildren, Dustin Walton (Jerica Martinez), Sarandon Duran (Brett), Payten Arguello (Jarrod), and Jadyn Walton; his grandchildren, Braylon and Brystol Walton, “Locster” Lazo and Tatum Arguello, and Jaelen, Jaece, and Demo Duran; his nieces and nephews, Tiana Portillo (Wil), Joshua and Avril Schenk, Santos Romero, Oziah and Aayon Martinez, Jesse James Martinez, Casey Joe Martinez Jr., and Kamryn Schulz (Adam); his great-nieces, Reina and Leila Portillo; and his best buddy, Butch Trujillo. Also, numerous uncles, aunts, and cousins.
Chris was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Dalis Christina, and his brother, Casey Joe Martinez.
Memorial Services, followed by a luncheon, will be at the Colfax County Event Center–175 York Canyon Road–on October 15, 2026 at 11:00am-2:00pm. Memorial donations can be made to Raton Tiger Booster Club in Chris’s name at 1550 Tiger Circle.
Honorary Pall Bearers: Dustin Walton, Jarrod Arguello, Brett Duran, Ernest “Butch” Trujillo Jr., Joshua Schenk, Tom Roman, Patrick “Plaza” Sanchez.
