Jennie Marcella Martinez, 82, of Raton passed away on October 2nd, 2026. She was born March 27th, 1944 to Max and Jennie Mares in Dawson, NM. Jennie was preceded in death by her son Clarence Richard Martinez, parents Max Mares and Jennie Frazier, brothers Victor Mares, Lee Mares, Manual Guadarrama, and Mike Mares, & Sister Sara Guadarrama.
Jennie is survived by her husband of 65 years, Clarence Martinez; sons Willie Martinez (Rhonda), Leonard Martinez; daughters Tammy Segura (Rudy), Serena Martinez; 11 grandkids, 22 great grandkids & 3 great great grandkids. Many nieces and nephews. Sisters Margret Montoya (Henry), Martha Dominguez (Pete), Rosalie Brewer (Mike), Brothers Joe Mares (Lupe), Manuel Mares (Lupe), Ralph Guadarama (Frances), Clinton Frazier, Aunt Rosie Torres & Best Friend Betty Brown. Jennie was a devoted mom, grandmother and loving friend who cherished her family more than anything. Her family was her greatest joy. She made those around her always felt loved, welcomed and cared for. She had a fun-loving spirit and knew how to make memories wherever she went. She loved doing the lip sync in town with her family & friends. She never missed an opportunity to laugh and enjoy life. Bingo with all her friends was her thing. She proudly held the title Tortilla master in the family. She also found joy in crocheting & crafting, always creating something beautiful with her hands and sharing her talent with everyone she loved. Jennie was so blessed to have her daughter, Tammy, by her side. Tammy did so much for her mom and cared for her with love and devotion all the way until the end. Their bond was truly special. Jennie leaves behind a lifetime of beautiful memories and a legacy of love that will live on in the hearts of everyone who knew her. She will be deeply missed and forever loved. A heartfelt thank you to her hospice nurses, Delani & Stephanie, for the kindness, compassion, and loving care they gave Jennie and her family during such an important time.
Celebration of Life will be held on October 14, 2026, in the Chapel of the Alderette-Pomeroy Funeral Home at 11:00 am. Burial will follow in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
