Douglas “Doug” A. Perry Jr., 62, of Raton, NM, died unexpectedly, Friday, July 31, 2026 at 12:14 am, in Santa Fe, NM with his wife by his side. He was born August 18, 1963, in Raton, NM, the son of Douglas Perry Sr. and Ruby Mae Scott-Perry.
Doug graduated high school in Gadsden, AL and played football, baseball and ran track his high school years. He enjoyed breaking horses, boxing, fishing, and he loved his Dallas Cowboys and his Alabama Roll Tide. While living in Alabama, Doug was a Pharmacy Tech for many years. While living in Raton, Doug worked for Morgan Builders for several years and during his younger years he worked at La Mesa Park exercising horses. He loved spending time with his family and loved ones and he loved dancing and making everyone around him laugh. His favorite thing to do was feed people when he would BBQ. Doug loved helping others with everything they needed and he loved those that loved him and showed up for him. He married Keri Welch on July 11, 2021 and they just celebrated 5 years of marriage a couple weeks prior to his passing.
Doug was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents and brothers John and Robert Vigil, and adopted Dad Gilbert Vigil, other adopted Dad, Graciano Sena. Survivors include his wife, Keri Perry, son, Shah Martin, daughter, Donnaneicea Perry, son, Alexander Welch, grandchildren, Christin Martin, Shah Martin Jr., DeAzjanae Jones, Joselyn Jones and Danny Jones III. He is also survived by several brothers and sisters, nieces and nephews.
Doug is also survived by his adopted Mama, Amelia Vigil, nephew, Frankie Vigil (Nicolette), niece, Rosa Vigil (Jamarcus Jones), nephews, Elijah and Emiliano Vigil, niece, Serenity Vigil, and special nephew, Sebastian Villa-Vigil.
Services for Douglas A. “Doug” Perry Jr. will be Saturday, September 12, 2026 at 10:00 am at the Lighthouse Church 1310 S. 2nd St., Raton, NM 87740 with a luncheon to follow.
A private Celebration of Life will be planned in the future.
