NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING AND PROPOSED ORDINANCE NO. 2026-02
PUBLIC NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Governing Body of Colfax County will hold
a public hearing on proposed Ordinance No. 2026-02 entitled:
An Ordinance for a Data Center Moratorium.
The public hearing will be held on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, following the public hearing on
Ordinance No. 2026-01 in the Colfax County Administration Building Commission Chambers
(third floor) at 230 N 3 rd St, Raton, NM, 87740. The Colfax County Commissioners may
consider adoption of the ordinance on Tuesday, August 25, 2026.
This ordinance prohibits the establishment or expansion of any data center in unincorporated
areas of the County. It also puts the municipalities within the County on official notice that the
County opposes establishing or expanding any data center within the incorporated areas of the
County. This ordinance will be in effect for one year. This notice constitutes compliance with
Section 4-37-7, NMSA1978.
Copies of the proposed ordinance are available for public inspection on the County Website at
www.co.colfax.nm.us or during regular business hours at the office of the County Manager,
Colfax County Administration Building, 230 North 3rd St., Raton, NM.
