NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING AND PROPOSED ORDINANCE NO. 2026-01
PUBLIC NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Governing Body of Colfax County will hold
a public hearing on proposed Ordinance No. 2026-01 entitled:
An Ordinance for Animal Control (Repeals and Replaces Ordinance No. 1989-06).
The public hearing will be held on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, following the hearing on the
repeal of Ordinance No. 2017-01 in the Colfax County Administration Building Commission
Chambers (third floor) at 230 N 3rd St, Raton, NM, 87740. The Colfax County Commissioners
may consider adoption of the ordinance on Tuesday, August 25, 2026.
This ordinance is an update to the provisions contained in Ordinance 1989-06. It modernizes the
language and brings the County into compliance with changes to New Mexico state law. This
notice constitutes compliance with Section 4-37-7, NMSA1978.
Copies of the proposed ordinance are available for public inspection on the County Website at
www.co.colfax.nm.us or during regular business hours at the office of the County Manager,
Colfax County Administration Building, 230 North 3rd St., Raton, NM.
