In Loving Memory of Judith Ann Duran

Judith Ann Duran, lovingly known as “Judy”, “Mom”, “Mama Judy”, and “Nana”, passed away peacefully at her home in Raton, New Mexico, on March 29, 2025, at the age of 69.

Born on August 1, 1955, in Denver, Colorado, to John Trujillo and Cora Cordova, Judy dedicated her life to serving others. She worked for the New Mexico Children, Youth, and Families Department for 25 years, where she made a lasting impact on many lives. Her true calling, however, was her faith—she served as an Associate Pastor at Mesa Church, where her kind heart, loving spirit, and unwavering dedication to her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, inspired all who knew her. She found joy in hosting women’s luncheons, leading Bible studies, going to Yard Sales, crocheting blankets for loved ones, and ministering to everyone that crossed her path.

Judy was a true warrior, bravely battling cancer in the final years of her life. She was a hero to many, holding steadfast to her faith until the very end. As a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, she brought warmth and strength to her family. Her compassion and faith were the foundation of her life, and she left an undeniable impact on everyone she met. Her beautiful smile will forever resonate in the hearts of all her family and friends.

Judy was preceded in death by her father, John Trujillo; her mother, Cora Cordova; her stepmother, Amelia Trujillo; her brother, Steven Trujillo; and her grandparents, Encarnación and Bernardo Trujillo.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Gene Duran of Raton, NM; brothers John Trujillo and wife Isabel of Colorado Springs, CO and Dennis Trujillo of La Junta, CO; her children, Geno Duran, Celina Sanchez and husband Chris, and Gabe Duran and wife Aundria of Houston, TX, Adrian Duran and wife Siobhan of Tulsa, OK, and Josh Duran and wife Patricia of Raton, NM. She also leaves behind 11 cherished grandchildren (Trinity, Tyniah, Christopher, Cruz, Makayla, Aidee, Chase, Scarlett, Lydia, Clara, and Judah) who held a special place in her heart, as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Thursday, April 17, 2025, at Mesa Church, 917 S 2nd St, Raton, NM 87740, at 11:00 a.m. A viewing will take place beforehand from 9:00–10:00 a.m. Following the service there will be an hour-long break to prepare for a Memorial Luncheon where everyone is invited to remember the life of Judy.

Arrangements are under the care and direction of the Alderette-Pomeroy Funeral Home of Raton.

Judy’s legacy of faith, love, and kindness will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
