The Raton Tigers hosted the Santa Rosa Lions Tuesday afternoon April 1st, 2025 and the Tigers were probably wishing it wasn’t April Fools day as the Lions came to Raton with blazing bats that would give the Lions the win in six.
The Lions started the scoring with a couple of singles that scored runs and they kept it up in the second taking an eight to one lead. Raton rallied in the second and scoring five for an 8-6 score.
Inning three was slow for both teams but the Lions roared back in the fourth and added six to the board after Raton pitcher Azden Romero walked batters to fill the bases and even walked one in. Add a couple of singles and the score added up. As the game went into the bottom of the fourth Santa Rosa lead 15-6.
the big jump came in the top of the sixth when batters walked and the Lions hit singles to bring the base runners in. By the time the dust cleared on the field the Lions had scored a whopping 10 runs and allowed Raton to score only one in the bottom of the sixth to end the game on the 10 run rule after six.
