The Raton Tigers hosted the West Las Vegas Dons Tuesday afternoon at Gabrielle Field for a regular season game, something different from past years as West was a district rival before the reclassification this last year moving Raton into Class 2A.
The Tigers made the game interesting in the second quarter after the Dons Daniel Bustamante hit a three run homer in the top of the second to take a 5-0 lead. Raton then loaded the base and with the help of a two run RBI by Azden Romero Raton closed in with Chase Middlebrook stealing home plate to make it a 5-4 game in the third Raton held the Dons scoreless and added two to take the lead by one.
West would hold the Tigers scoreless in the next three innings while running the score up and 13 points for a final 18-7 win.
