Lynda Mosier Poling, age 82, died Friday, March 21, 2025, in Clayton, New Mexico.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, March 29, at the Garcia Plaza Cemetery, Blue Front Ranch, Clapham, NM. Arrangements are under the direction of Hass Funeral Directors of Clayton.
Lynda Louise Mosier was born November 25, 1942, in Roswell, New Mexico to Floyd Wesley Mosier and Frances Louise Castillo Mosier. Both of Lynda’s parents were schoolteachers and she shared their love of education. Her father taught 6th grade and later became the industrial arts teacher in Clayton and her mother taught typing and shorthand. She attended school in Sedan, Folsom (where she was the baseball team’s pitcher!) and graduated from Clayton High School in 1960. While in high school, because of her winning essay, she had the opportunity to travel to Washington, D.C., serving as a student representative to the United Nations. After graduation, she attended New Mexico Highlands University. She was an excellent student and an avid reader. She was a caring and loving mom and grandma and her witty sense of humor kept her family laughing often! She was quite the hunter of arrowheads and antique glass. She and J.M. amassed a beautiful collection of arrowheads found primarily at the Blue Front Ranch. She also loved treasure hunting at local garage sales, estate sales and auctions. It brought her great joy to find things for others while on her outings and she was always disappointed when the “season” was over. Lynda was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd Wesley Mosier on October 11, 1998; Frances Louise Castillo Mosier on August 13, 1962; her husband, John Milton “J.M.” Poling, III on January 5, 2019; her daughter Wendy Lou Poling on March 26, 2000; her grandson, Chance Milton Poling, July 26, 2010, and her sister Nancy Mosier Naranjo September 5, 2008.
