Cimarron/Des Moines Shooters Do Well in Knight’s State Free Throw Contest

 

 

Since 1972, councils have sponsored the Knights of Columbus Free Throw Championship for boys and girls from the ages of 9 to 14 to provide an athletic outlet and encourage the values of sportsmanship and healthy competition. Kids compete within their own gender and age and progress from local level to district, regional and state competitions.

The NM state championship was held on March 23rd at the Bernalillo High School Gymnasium, featuring over 60 boys and girls ages 9–14 from around the state with 10 area boys and girls representing Cimarron Council 1335 and Des Moines Council 15977.

Cheyenne LeDoux of Cimarron was a winner again, earning her third straight state Championship with a 19 out of 25 performance.  Trapper Whitten of Cimarron earned the 14 year old boys championship. Also from Cimarron, Jolie Ward, Zaylee Dimas, Gaige Ivans, and Zian Dimas finished in the top three in their division

From Des Moines Taelyn Matinez, Lacey Cruz, Kalen Bennett and Cash Green competed and brought home trophies.
