The 2025 Roy/Mosquero Lady Blue notched their 28th straight win and a berth in the semifinals of the Class A girls basketball tournament with a 68 – 31 win over district rival Springer in Wednesday, March 11, Elite 8 quarterfinals at Bernalillo High School.
Lady Blue started the game hot with a 15 – 0 run and didn’t cool off for the whole game, leading by as many as 40 behind the 33 point performance of senior Nora Krisp. Krisp added 15 boards which was a big reason for the 23 to 3 advantage in second chance points the Blue rang up.
As hot as the Blue was, the Springer Red Devils were cold. They ended the game with a 16.7% field goal percentage and were lead in scoring by freshman Kayley Caldwell with 9.
Roy/Mosquero will be matched up with #4 Quemado in the semis scheduled for Thursday, March 13 at the Rio Rancho Events Center.
Roy/Mosquero scorers included Natalie Smith with 9; Dylan Clavel with 6; Sylviana Baca with 5; Tayla Profitt, Constanza Covarrubias, and Reagan Doherty had 4 each and Kayla Smith with 3.
Springer ended their season with a 20 – 10 record and quarterfinal scorers included Olivia Burton with 8, Abigail Eppler with 4; Esperanza Tafoya and Ayanalisa Mendoza both had 3 and Kyanna Rodriguez and Lorelai Tafoya-Perez with 2.
