Richard Leo Valdez Sr.. was called home on December 13, 2024, with his family at his side.
Richard was born September 20, 1953, to Mable Valdez. Richard was employed for over 40 years as an LPN. During this time, he worked at Miners Colfax Medical Center and at Springer Long-term Hospital. He also worked at Raton Nursing and Rehab and at Spring Long-Term Care. Richard became interested in computers and fixing them. He helped several people in the community.
Richard was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
Richard is survived by his wife of 50 years, Eliz Valdez. His children are Diane and spouse John Martinez, Richard Valdez Jr., and Carla Linn Valdez. Grandchildren: Chante and spouse Jose Aburto, Dephen and Spouse Kori Chavez, Briana Chavez, Hunter Rose Niali, Ashton Wheeler, and Wyatt Myers. Great-grandchildren: Braxton: Laney, Kenley: Hope. Sister Elizabeth and spouse Tony Rivera. Special friends: Gloria Sanchez, ned and Mary Ortiz, Levi Ortiz, and Annie Vigil. Many special cousins and extended family.
Graveside services will be on March 11, 2025, at 1:00 pm at Fairmount Cementary, with Ned Ortiz officiating.
Arangements were on behalf of Alderette Pomeroy. After graveside services, there will be a gathering at the Methodist church across from the Raton High School.
