In Loving Memory of Billie M. Depue

Billie M. Depue, age 96, died on Tuesday, February 11, 2025, in Clayton, New Mexico.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, February 14, 2025, at the Clayton Methodist Church in Clayton, New Mexico. Burial will follow in the Clayton Memorial Cemetery by Hass Funeral Directors of Clayton.

Billie M. Depue was born on April 21, 1928, in Union County, New Mexico to James R. “Bob” Daves and Pearl (Ford) Daves. She lived in Union County her entire life. Billie married Raymond W. “Pete” Rice on September 25, 1948, in Clayton and he preceded her in death on March 11, 1978. She later married Bill Depue on November 13, 1982, in Clayton and he preceded her in death on April 18, 1996. Billie spent twenty-five years as a nurse’s aide at Union County General Hospital. She was the Union County Magistrate Judge in the 1980s. Billie loved the ranch at Clapham, New Mexico which was started by her dad and passed down to his children. She also loved her home in which she dwelt for 60 years. The original two-story house was modernized and expanded by her two husbands and her son. In later years, as her eyesight failed her, Billie enjoyed listening to audiobooks. Her greatest love was for her family. In addition to her husbands and parents, Billie was preceded in death by her son, Bobby Rice, by 2 sisters, Oleta Daves at age 3 and Lois Webb, by 2 brothers, Floyd Daves and Frank Daves, Son-in-law, Buzzy Cleveland, grandson-in-law, Damon Cochran, great-grandson, Taylor Koontz and by a great-great-granddaughter, Brylee Smith.

1 DAUGHTER: Glenna Cleveland of Clayton, New Mexico.

6 GRANDCHILDREN: Sheila Harris and Jeff of Seneca, NM, Cody Koontz and Vondell of Trinidad, CO, Cynthia Boggs and David of Canyon, TX, Kendall Leland Cleveland II and Kristina of Clayton, NM, Casey Adams and Alan of Lubbock, TX and Bridget Cochran of Las Vegas, NV.

GREAT-GRANDCHILDREN: Desta Buhr (Shawn), Kendra Smith (Brandon), Amanda Archuleta (Jarrod), Orren Koontz (Leah), Hayden Harris (Kayla), Denton Harris (Jaymi), Cassie Pool (Kelby), Raegan Bannon (Jared), Mackenzie Hopkins, Dalton Hopkins, Brayden Cochran and Kylie Cochran.

GREAT-GREAT-GRANDCHILDREN: Reagan, Reini, Rivers, Rose, Ridge and Rim Koontz, Tritt, Duke and Joanie Buhr, Dusti, Taos and Dallas Harris, Holli Harris, Leo and Luke Bannon, Ethan, Emily and Brynlee Smith, Brody Archuleta, Cole and Kade Pool and there is also another great-great-granddaughter on the way.

Numerous nieces, nephews, and her beloved caregiver Beatrice Mayness.
