Frances Clara Niccoli
February 24,1931 – January 18, 2025
Frances Clara (Duran) Niccoli, age 93, born February 24, 1931 in Delagua,
Colorado to Fred and Jenny (Hart) Duran. Frances passed away peacefully
January 18, 2025 in Trinidad Colorado. Frances was the middle child of two
brothers, Charles Duran the eldest and Leroy Duran the baby, who Frances
adored and raised.
Frances’ parents passed away at an early age. Jenny’s sister’s Margaret Hart
and Rose Marie Hart, teamed up and raised Frances and her brothers. Frances
lived in Delagua, Aguilar, Ludlow, and Trinidad. Frances met her husband Joseph
Serano Niccoli as a teenager and married him. Together they had three
children, Freddie, Irma and Annette and settled in Trinidad Colorado. Frances
worked at Ben Franklin’s in the 70’s as a cash register clerk. In the 70s and
80s‘she worked at Jamieson’s Department Store as a sales clerk, accountant,
and gift wrapper, which she did perfectly, until her husband, Joseph got sick with
cancer and she decided to stay home and became his caregiver.
Frances had many passions that she loved to do. She enjoyed the dances in
Ludlow, where I believe she met her husband at. She was great at crocheting
outts for dolls with fancy dresses. She loved to bake cakes from scratch and
decorate them so beautifully. Her cakes were delicious. She also loved to sew
and would fashion design and make our clothing growing up. She also liked to
give the grandkids haircuts to the boys with a bowl and razor and scissors for
the girls. She had a passion for owls and collected them. She loved the actor
John Wayne because he always reminded her of her husband Joseph. She also
loved to babysit. She would make a large impact on their lives and was so loved
by each child.
Frances was the matriarch of the family and tried to make it a point to keep the
families together. What Frances loved the most was being with her
grandchildren, great grandchildren and her great-great grandchildren. They were
her pride and joy. She would welcome everyone into her home with open arms
and a big heart. She adopted many of our friends as her grandkids.
Frances was loved by everyone she met. She was a very strong woman, with a
heart of gold and a beautiful smile, who rarely complained about her pain and
fought to the very end. She is survived by her granddaughters: Gaylene
Furu-Vigil (Robert Vigil Jr.) Barbara Decker, Theresa Killian (Kevin) Lactic
Edwards, Serana Arellano, grandsons: Roy Niccoli (Brooke), Harvey Decker
(Lexie), William Decker (Felicia), and Abe Vigil; great grandchildren:Lilijana Furu
