Patricia Lynn Richardson of Clayton, New Mexico
February 21, 1964 – January 21, 2025
Patricia Lynn Evans was born February 21, 1964 in Silver City NM to Homer and Karen
(Brown) Evans. She passed January 21, 2025 at UCGH in Clayton, with family at her side.
When Trisha was 3 years old, Karen married Charley Oney in Deming, NM; thus began an
eventful relationship for Trisha and Charley. She was a busy little girl, full of life and following
Karen, curious and asking lots of questions. She loved riding horses and Charley would
always saddle a horse for her. She went back and forth between her mother and dad. Homer
said one of his fondest memories was going horseback through the wilderness with two of his
friends and their. children, along with Trisha for a week or more.
When Karen and Charley moved from Las Cruces to Belen, Trisha was far ahead in 3rd grade.
Her teacher kept her busy tutoring the other children. She continued to excel! in school. Her
Sophomore year she qualified in Mountainair, NM for Rotary International Foreign Exchange
Student in Zambungua, Phillipines. Martial Law was declared in that Southern Province,
alarming her mother and Charley to travel to pick her up. The family she was living with dyed
her hair black to ensure her safety.
Homer tells a story of her days in 4-H. The other kids had pigs, but Trisha was set on having a
lamb. He found one for $90 with the agreement she needed to pay back the $90. Trisha put
her all into that lamb winning Grand Champion at the Fair in Hurley, NM. She easily paid back
the purchase price. Trisha’s love of animals remained throughout her life. She could talk to
anybody about most subjects, but she loved to visit about a good horse. She had a gentle
hand with her horses and would come unglued if she saw someone mistreat theirs. She
would invite stray cats into her home and adopt unwanted dogs.
Patricia dropped out of High School to marry Bobby Haimes in Silver City, NM. To this union
was born her only child, John Wesley Haimes in 1982. She loved her New Mexico, but found
joy in Alaska and Canada also.
Our Trisha struggled with the monster of addiction throughout her life; leaving behind
destroyed relationships, broken hearts and lost friends. She had so many talents including
carpentry, mechanics, barrel riding, cooking and baking. Her real flair was Interior Design,
decorating her home and the homes of others; an innate eye for the “just right.” She worked in
Cowboy Camps and took great joy in baking for her favorite son, John. She loved shopping
in high end shops and Thrift stores. She was passionate about rodeo and the History
Channel. As a young woman, she was gorgeous, turning heads as she walked into a room. A
head full of curly, long hair and THAT laugh. She was so easy to love and so hard with whom
to live.
She was preceded in death by her beloved Nan, Lillian and Wes Brown of Cliff NM and
Grandpa, Bill Evans. In the Spring of 2025 family will gather at the Silva Creek Botanical
Gardens in Silver to spread her ashes where these grandparents lay.
She is survived by her son John Haymes and Sarah of Clayton, NM; mother, Karen Oney of
Anchorage AK; father & stepmother Homer and Patsy Evans of Deming NM; sister, Kara
Oney of Bellingham, WA; stepbrother Bill Evans of CA; stepparents Charley & Marilyn Oney of Clayton, NM; stepbrother Brian Oney & Sia of Zurich, Switzerland; stepsister Kenna Oney &
Juan Ridgeway of Las Vegas, NM.
