Tiger Boys Mark Win Column Over Miners Raton Girls Drop One

Raton hosted Trinidad Thursday January 16, 2025, for three games in Tiger Gym where the Boys won their games and the Lady Tigers dropped a close one.

The Raton JV boys took the early lead in their game and held Trinidad to single digit scores in the game until the fourth quarter when Trinidad added 12 to the scoreboard. Cael Walton and Aiden Riley did most of the scoring for Raton with Walton dropping in 15 and Riley followed with 11.

The Varsity Girls took the court next with Trinidad coming into the game with a 2-4 record while Raton sports a 3-9 showing for the year. It was a pretty even match up in the first half of the game with both teams staying close and going into the locker room at halftime with a one point Raton lead at 13-12. The third quarter was all Trinidad as they dropping in 17 with three 3-pointers and six free throws. Raton battled back in the fourth but it was to little to late as they outscored Trinidad 15-12.

The Raton Varsity Boys came into this game with an even record with 7-7 while Trinidad shows a 3-5 overall record for the season. Raton controlled the tip off and scored first and ended the first quarter with a 17-10 score. Trinidad would fall behind and then battle back to within two or four points then fall back. The biggest spread on the score was 12 points later in the game. As the final buzzer sounded it was a Raton win 53-47.
