Lynda Butt, age 80, died Friday, December 13, 2024, in Clayton, New Mexico.

Visitation will be held Tuesday afternoon and evening till 7:00 PM at Hass Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, December 18, 2024, at the Clayton Methodist Church in Clayton, New Mexico with Pastor Terrell Jones, pastor of Trinity Fellowship Church in Clayton, officiating. Burial will follow in the Clayton Memorial Cemetery in Clayton, New Mexico by Hass Funeral Directors of Clayton.

Lynda (McCurley) Butt was born on June 2, 1944, in McLean, Texas to Charles Haskell “Hak” McCurley and Betty (Dunn) McCurley. Lynda graduated from high school in McLean, Texas and then went on to receive her bachelor’s degree and later her master’s degree both from West Texas State University. Lynda married Jack Butt on October 24, 1968, in Clayton, New Mexico and he preceded her in death on March 17, 2004. She taught school at Alvis Elementary School in Clayton for 34 years. Lynda was a member of the Clayton Methodist Church, the Methodist Women and PEO. She was a 4H leader for many years and enjoyed her card club with her friends. In addition to her husband and parents, Lynda was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Charles McCurley and Paul McCurley and by a sister, Martha Jo Bailey.

SURVIVORS:

2 DAUGHTERS: Aunna Bradley and Bill Gonzales of Springer, New Mexico and Brenda Wren and her husband Rodney of Texico, New Mexico.

6 GRANDCHILDREN: Aaron Bradley and Lavera Valdez of Clayton, New Mexico, Karlee Bradley of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Abbey Bradley of Nashville, Tennessee, Dalton Wren and his wife Haley of Artesia, New Mexico, Audrey Bagwell and her husband Colby of Ft. Worth, Texas and Jacob Trujillo of Phoenix, Arizona.

7 GREAT-GRANDCHILDREN: Bo Bradley, Lukah Valdez, Zak Bradley, Jax Bradley, Riley Wren, Charley Wren and Leighton Bagwell.

2 SISTERS: Barbara Schneider and her husband Bob of Canyon, Texas and Texetta Tarbet and her husband Cottie of Shamrock, Texas.

MEMORIALS: The family asks that memorials be made in Lynda’s memory to the PEO Scholarship fund, care of Sharon Brown, 702 Walnut Street, Clayton, NM 88415.
