Elsie Martinez, 91, of Pueblo, Colo., passed away peacefully at her home
surrounded by family on Nov. 4, 2024. She was preceded in death by her
beloved husband, Rudy Martinez; daughter, Gwen Martinez; parents, Emelio
and Cruzita Santistevan; brother, Frank Santistevan (Glenna); and sisters,
Stella Novak and Virginia Albert.
She is survived by her loving brother, Arthur (Star) Santistevan; children, Robert Gomez, Loretta (Joe) Garcia, Valerie Martinez, Gerri Martinez (Dennis), Brenda (John) Rodriguez and Jason
Gomez; grandchildren, Brandon Gomez, Brandi Montano, Briana Rodriguez and Jacob Rodriguez; great-granddaughter, Jenna Gomez; and many nieces, nephews and extended family. Elsie also leaves behind her loyal companions, Charlie and Chewy.
Born in Trinidad, Colo., on March 16, 1933, Elsie dedicated 18 years of her life working in food service for Pueblo School District 60. She was a devoted caregiver to her husband, Rudy, for over 15 years as he battled Parkinson’s disease. Elsie’s love for her family knew no bounds. She
cherished time spent with her children and grandchildren, whom she helped raise. A world traveler, avid camper and passionate Broncos fan, Elsie found joy in many activities, including binge-watching her favorite television shows.
Above all, she was known for her kindness, strength, and unwavering love.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2024, at Comi Funeral Home,
1804 East Main St., Trinidad, CO. Inurnment will follow at the Catholic
cemetery.
Elsie will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but her legacy of
love and devotion will remain in the hearts of her family forever. She is now
reunited with Rudy and at peace in paradise
