In Loving Memory of Theodora (Dora) R. Lovato

It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of our mother, Theodora (Dora) R. Lovato. She passed away peacefully on November 13, 2024, in her home surrounded by her family. Dora was born on January 14, 1933, to Eduardo and Manulita Gomez in Rivales. Colorado. She was 91. Dora was preceded in death
by her husband, Harold E. Lovato, her parents Eduardo and Manulita Gomez, Grandson, David Matthew Lovato-Rael, sisters Margaret (Bob) Ruybal, Emalia (John) Apodaca, Barbara (Erminio) Lovato, Madlyn Barela; brothers Ernest (Rose) Gomez, Louis Gomez, Richard Gomez, Charles (Jane) Gomez, Jose (Cindi)
Gomez, Anthony Gomez, and son-in-law Richard (Dick) Trujillo. She was the last survivor of her generation in her family. Dora is survived by her children Bea (Phil) Rico, and Berniece Trujillo. Leroy (Corine) Lovato, Victoria (Julian) Gettler, Teresa (Steve) Sampson, Daniel Lovato, Valorie Lovato, David Lovato. She is also survived by 18 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, extended family, and special friends John and Mary Garcia. Dora was a dedicated mother and homemaker. She was her children’s and Grandchildren’s biggest fan. She enjoyed gardening and
planted a vegetable garden every year. She loved her fruit trees and flower gardens and could name every flower, plant, and tree she had. She was in the Arbor Club. She was a gifted seamstress and an enthusiastic genealogist. She was a lifelong learner of herbs and practiced herbal healing. She was the family
historian, and an avid reader, and she enjoyed ceramics, painting (especially rocks), and even wrote poetry. Dora was a previous member of Mt. Carmel Parish and a previous member of Mt. Carmel Home and School Association. She was a devout Catholic and a member of Holy Trinity Parish. She prayed her rosary daily, many times, more than once. As children, she taught us all to pray and made sure we received our sacraments. She had a special devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, Saint Anthony of Padua, and Saint Ignatius of Loyola. Besides raising 8 children, she raised chickens, turkeys, ducks, you name it-she raised it! Mom was in a wheelchair for some time but from there she still ‘ruled the roost’. Mom was both comical and mischievous. Her favorite saying was. “I do as I please and I do it with ease!” Mom, you will be with us in everything we do. God has you in his keeping, we’ll keep you in our hearts. Visitation will be on Wednesday, November 20 from 3:00 PM-6:00 PM. Comi Funeral Home. The rosary will be at 6:00 PM at Comi Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 AM on Thursday, November 21 at Holy Trinity Church. Pallbearers are David Lovato, Danny Lovato, Leroy Lovato, Leonard Lovato, Noby Gomez, Ricky Trujillo, Carlos Sisneros, Julian Gettier, Phil Rico and Steve Sampson. Honorary Pallbearers are all Dora’s grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great, great-grandchildren.
