Ramond Mora

Ramond Mora, 75, passed away peacefully at his Albuquerque home on October 2, 2024, after a lengthy battle with pancreatic cancer. He was born in 1949 in Capulin, New Mexico, and grew up in Raton. Shortly after he graduated from Raton High School in 1967, he joined the U.S. Marine Corps, serving his country in Vietnam.
Ramond met his wife, Cindy, in Ventura, California, and they were married in 1974. He worked as a carpenter and later opened a VCR repair shop in Raton. Ramond eventually began a long career with the State of New Mexico as a Port Revenue Agent at the Raton Port of Entry, retiring after years of dedicated service.
Known for his sharp wit, honesty, and generosity, Ramond made friends everywhere he went. He loved classic cars, westerns, and spending time with his family. He lived and died on his own terms, and his presence left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Rosie Mora; stepfather, Frank Mora; brothers, Pete Mora and Paul Daniel Mora; nephew, Heath Mora; and grandson, Damon Raine Swanson.
Ramond is survived by his wife of 50 years, Cindy Mora; children: Marina (John) Swanson, Jason (Everetta) Mora, Amanda (Nolan) Troublefield, Angel Morales, and Daniel A. J. Morales (Alie); and grandchildren: Arianna, Gwenyth, Bradley, Drayson, Maysen, Alaina, and Lucienne. He leaves behind countless cousins, in-laws, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and lifelong friends who will miss him dearly.
Services for Ramond Mora will be held on November 15, 2024, at St. Patrick’s-St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Raton, New Mexico. The Rosary will begin at 11:00 a.m., followed by the Funeral Mass at 11:30 a.m. Burial will then take place at Fairmont Cemetery, with a reception to follow at the Parish Hall. All are welcome.
