John Bautista Giron, 86, a lifelong resident of Trinidad CO, passed peacefully in his sleep in the early morning hours of October 25, 2024, in his daughter’s home in Henderson, NV. He was born in Trinidad on July 11, 1938, the youngest of 16 children. He honorably served in the US Navy on the USS Kearsarge and USS Midway, worked at Trinidad State College for 33 years, and retired as Dean of Students. He was an exceptional human and a man of deep faith. His generosity and humility were evident in all his actions, always ready to offer help to anyone in need.
His passing reunites him with his parents Juan E. Giron and Leonarda (Ramirez) Giron. He is survived by his wife Rita (Romero) Giron, son John Giron II, his wife Wanda, their children Justin and Erica Giron, and a great-grandson, Xander Giron, of Dallas Texas. Son Wayne Giron, with his wife Jennifer, and their children Christopher Giron with Stephanie and a great-grandson Corbin Giron and Matthew Giron of Lorane, Oregon. Daughter Glennine (Giron) Varga and her husband Shane Varga of Henderson, Nevada. Not to be missed is John’s beloved dog Oscar. John and Rita enjoyed spending time with many of their nieces and nephews. Viewing will be held on Thursday, November 7, 2024, from 4-6 pm and Rosary at 7 pm at the Chappell House (Mullare- Murphy Funeral Home). The funeral will be held on Friday, November 8, 2024, at 10 am at Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Interment will follow at the Trinidad Catholic Cemetery. The family has entrusted Mullare-Murphy Funeral Home with the arrangements.
