Colfax County road and bridge personnel are continuing to assess county roads after the rainstorm on the weekend of October 19 and 20 caused damage and it has been necessary to close both County Road A-6, the Tinaja Road where it crosses Tinaja Creek and County Road A-10 which includes a portion of Eagle Tail Road through the Blosser Arroyo area.
County Road crews are currently working on 3 other crossings at this time. The damaged roads that that have been identified are all East of Maxwell. Colfax County Manager Monte Gore advised that there could be damaged roads that have not been identified, so caution is being advised when driving on all county roads in this area. We will keep you advised of the situation as we receive additional information.
According to the Colfax County website, the county road department has 12 full-time employees overseen by Road Superintendent- Glenn Stevens. Colfax County maintains 570.3 miles of roads of which only 6.7 miles are paved. The remaining 563.6 miles of county roads are gravel or dirt are maintained using a variety of heavy equipment which include six motor graders, two loaders and two backhoes.
