With great sadness, George M. Aguirre of Cimarron, NM, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 7, 2024. He was 83 years old. George was born on April 23, 1941, in Casa Padre, Texas, to Alicia Moreno and Concepcion Aguirre, George was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Aurora Ontiveroz, and his grandson Brennan Naccarato.

George was a man whose spirit thrived in the great outdoors. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing pool, spending time sharpening knives with his grandson Gabriel, and visiting with his many friends. George dedicated many years to working at Vermejo Park Ranch, a place he loved. There, he not only honed his skills in the outdoors but also forged lifelong friendships. After retiring, he found even more joy in his surroundings, often reflecting on the beauty and tranquility of nature.

George’s legacy is one of love, adventure, and connection—to nature, family, and friends. He will always be remembered for his warmth, wisdom, and the joy he found in the simple pleasures of life.

He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Josephine “Fran” Aguirre, and their six children, John Fred Salazar, George “Pepper” Aguirre Jr., David Joe Pacheco, Michael Salazar, Tina Romero, and Mercy Pacheco. Grandchildren Ryanna Gutierrez, Joziah Salazar, Alex Medina, Domingo Saenz, Isaac Andrews, Natashia Madrid, Kimberly Madrid, Nathaniel Salazar, Michael Aguirre, Jesse Aguirre, Keyarra Romero, Nevaeh Romero, Eliseo Romero, Gabriel Valdez, Isaiah Valdez and Alicia Martinez.

Great-grandchildren Amara Aguirre-Sanchez, Oakley Salazar, Lorena Gutierrez, Shelby Gutierrez, and Avery Gutierrez. He is also survived by his sister Sylvia Torres and his brothers Lonides Aguirre, Concepcion “Kiki” Aguirre, Antonio “Tony” Aguirre, and Ramon Aguirre.

Recitation of The Most Holy Rosary will be on Friday, October 25 at 10:00 am at the Sister Hildegard Parish Hall, followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 am with Father Trieu as the Celebrant.  Interment will follow in the Mount View Cemetery.

Arrangements for George M. Aguirre are under the direction of the Alderette-Pomeroy Funeral Home.
