The Lady Tigers took to the court Thursday evening hosting the Pecos Lady Panthers during homecoming week for their second district match of the season and easily added another mark in the district win column.
The C-team played Primero in the first match of the day and lost that match in two. The JV took to the court following the mum presentation to parents as part of the homecoming festivities. The JV split their first two games to force the tie breaker and what a tie breakers it was as the girls kept the game close. The score was tied at two all the way up to seven where Pecos took a short lived lead. Tied again at 10 and 11 Pecos found the right spots in the Raton defense to move ahead 13-11 then win 15-11.
The Varsity match was pretty much a Raton affair as the Lady Tigers taking the first game after tie scores up to seven. Raton then took a 10-7 lead and pulled out a 25-16 win in the first game of the night. In game two Raton took the lead and saw Anisia Martinez pull out an ace adding to a rally that took Raton to a 15-7 lead. With several long volleys in the game Raton continued the lead and the win with a 25-17 score.
The third game of the evening saw Jennifer Mattorano pull out three aces in the game as Raton extended the early lead to 11-4. From there it was an easy win as the Lady Tigers found the holes in the Pecos defense and and pulled out a 25-14 win. Raton now sits 2-0 in district play and marked the homecoming win column for the first time in three years.
