Pete Joseph Casias
( November 13, 1972 – September 7, 2024 )
Peter Joseph Casias III, of Raton, NM passed away on September 7, 2024, at the age of 51. His family is extremely saddened by his passing.
Peter was born on November 13, 1972, to Beverly and the late Pete Casias, Jr. He graduated from Raton High School, as class president, in 1991. After high school, he joined the United States Navy. He served as an Interior Communications Technician. For his war-time service, Peter received the National Defense Medal and the Southwest Asia Service Medal, as well as receiving his Sea Service Deployment Ribbon. After his service with the Navy, he returned to Raton. He worked for Cablevision for some time and then became a police officer with Raton Police Department in 1997. In 2001, he opened J.R. Electronics. Working from Colorado, New Mexio and into Texas, Pete could install anything electronic onto any vehicle or building. He provided window tinting, communications systems for law enforcement, and surveillance systems for homes and businesses. He also would do random acts of kindness and home repair for families and friends with no thought for compensation.
Pete will most be remembered for his love of God. He came to the Lord through a miraculous experience that he loved to share with anyone he met. He knew God in a way that some can only pray for. He never boasted of being perfect, but he spent countless hours in prayer, fasting, and with the Word to know God to the fullest and to intercede for others. His greatest passion in life was to try to lead everyone he knew and loved to a soul-saving relationship with the Lord. He used his business to reach out to others with boldness. He was in the process of fulfilling his dream to start a food truck so that he could share his amazing food and the love of God with others.
Pete’s pride and joy was his family. He would cook, call, and coerce everyone into getting together whenever he could. He was available to do anything anyone asked of him. He would spend hours with his children and nephews talking and sharing his dreams and hopes for them, wherever they were. If he asked them what they wanted for their birthdays, it was usually some of his amazing food. Pete also had an amazing sense of humor, and his laughter will be greatly missed by all.
Pete is survived by his four children: Damien, Jeremiah, Esperanza, and Neriah Casias, and his two grandchildren: Aliyanna and Zaiden Casias. He also leaves behind his mother, Beverly Casias, sister Devota Casias, brother James Casias and nephews: Nathaniel and Devon Casias. Pete is also survived by numerous uncles, aunts, and cousins.
A celebration of his life will be held on October 19, 2024, at 11:00 am at the Raton High School. A luncheon will follow in the high school cafeteria.
