In loving Memory of Alfredo Fortunato Malespini

Alfredo Fortunato Malespini of Jansen passed away unexpectedly on September 13, 2024 at the Spanish
Peaks Veterans Community Living Center in Walsenburg, Colorado. He was born in Belvedere, Sicily to
Salvatore and Josephine Malespini on April 17, 1937. After the end of World War II, he and his family
immigrated to the United States and settled in New Britain, Connecticut.
In 1954, Alfredo joined the United States Air Force and as his two-year term was ending, he visited
Trinidad, Colorado and was introduced to Clara-Ann Valenti. It was love at first sight and when he
completed his commitment to the Air Force, they married in May 1958. Alfredo was so proud of his
beautiful bride that they took a honeymoon trip to Niagara falls and Alfredo brought Clara Ann to the
home of his parents in New Britain. The family convinced the young couple to stay and move into the
home next door. Alfredo and his brother Joseph joined forces and ran a successful salon in Norwich,
Connecticut. In 1964, Alfredo brought his bride back to her hometown of Trinidad. The foothills of the
Rocky Mountains reminded him of his beloved home of Belvedere, Sicily and he purchased the property
that Clara Ann’s grandparents had owned. He opened a successful beauty salon, Alfredo’s, which he
owned and operated until 1990. Deciding on a career change, at the age of 53, Alfredo became a
conductor on the C&S Railway and retired in 1996.
Alfredo was an avid golfer, playing daily, and taking walks at Walmart twice each day. He was an active
