Raton Logan Take 1st at Second Annual Raton/Maxwell Cross Country Meet

The second annual Raton/Maxwell x-country meet was held in Raton Saturday September 7, 2024, at the Raton Golf course under a beautiful clear blue sky and cool temps, just right for a x-country meet.

This year 11 schools with 18 teams and over 200 participants competed in the race with varsity teams taking on a 3.1 mile course. The JV and Junior High divisions were combined and competed on a 2.1 mile run around the golf course.

Alex Bueno De La O took the boys varsity 1st place with a time of 18:50. 10 followed closely by Cimarron’s Wheeler Leach with a time of 18:53.33. West Las Vegas Deaven Bar took the third place spot with a time of 19:01.48. In the girls varsity division Raton’s own Kalynn Salazar finished with a time of 22:46.25 followed by Cimarron’s Allie Landry Brown with a 24:31.26 time. The third place  time was 26:04.05 achieved by Makenzie Flanagan from Raton. Logan High took the boys 1st place team trophy with Mora grabbing the 2nd place trophy. Raton High took the girl’s 1st place team trophy with West Las Vegas High grabbing the 2nd place trophy.

In the JV/Jr High boy’s division West Las Vegas Elais Munoz took first with a 14:41.57 time followed by the 2nd place finisher George Garcia 14:57.28 from Mora and Travis Lujan took 3rd with a 15:08.94 time.  Sedona Ferret from Cimarron took the 1st place spot with a 14:51.09 time. 2nd place went to Lliana Romero at 15:57.68 followed by the third place finisher Adeline Yates with a 16:13.00 time. West Las Vegas Boys middle school team took 1st place with Mora coming in 2nd and Cimarron taking the 3rd place spot. The Cimarron girls team took the team 1st place with West Las Vegas middle school taking 2nd place and Mora taking the 3rd place spot.
