Vivian coached Boxing for many years and successfully produced boxing champions in many tournaments. He coached his sons: Steve, Gary, Darrell, and Paul, and they received many trophies and championship titles, along with many other young boys who also received championship titles and trophies. His success was due to his knowledge, understanding, and caring demeanor that he carries.

Vivian was an avid hunter and fisherman. He had the state record for many years for his mule deer, where he had it mounted and named it Walter, the buck scored @225 6/8 SCI. He was a member and organizer of the United Mine Works of America Kaiser Hunting and Fishing Club. He learned to hunt and fish at a young age from his father Esequiel Segura. Many of his friends consider our dad to be one of the best hunter and fisherman they know. His love for hunting and fishing continues on with his children and grandchildren, and also with his wife Helen who often caught more fish than him.

Vivian was a devout Catholic his entire life, where he was a Knight of Columbus and obtained his 4th Degree. From a young age, he remembered his father saying, “Jesus y Cruz” (Jesus and the Cross), and because of his example, the church gained a Priest, his grandson Father Darrell Segura Jr.

Vivian loved to read and has quite a collection of books. Vivian was a member of the New Mexico Army National Guard. He loved to sing and play the guitar. He and his buddies would go play music and sing at the Senior Center and would have so much enjoyment doing so making the patients happy. One day he came home and said that he had went to the restroom and a nurse told him to get to his room.
