Douglas was born on October 15, 1968, to April Lockhart Claycomb and Arthur “Art” Claycomb in Amarillo, Texas. Douglas was the fourth sibling and the baby of the family. Douglas was the family’s miracle baby as his mother became paralyzed while pregnant with him. She was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis and would later deliver her healthy baby boy. Douglas was raised in Clayton, New Mexico and graduated from Clayton High School in 1986. Douglas was a well-liked classmate and remained in touch with friends. Douglas worked for the family business, Claycomb Electric, until his passing. He was a seasoned plumber, electrician and heating and air conditioning technician. Douglas had a wonderful sense of humor and a contagious laugh that could fill a room. He enjoyed spending time with family; everyone always knew his favorite sweet and that sweet tooth was strong. Douglas was residing at the Clayton Nursing and Rehab after a fall and broken femur resulted in rehab services and a cancer diagnosis that followed. The Claycomb family is extremely grateful for the kindness and care given to Douglas during his rehab and cancer battle. Doug was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Clayton and enjoyed attending services with his father before his passing in 2020.
