In Loving Memory of James Wray Fulkersin

James Wray Fulkersin, age 76, passed away peacefully at home with his family and faithful golden retriever Goldie by his side on Saturday, August 10th, 2024.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, August 15, 2024, at the Clayton Methodist Church in Clayton, New Mexico with Pastor Terrell Jones, pastor of the Trinity Fellowship Church in Clayton, officiating. Burial will follow in the Clayton Memorial Cemetery by Hass Hass Funeral Directors of Clayton, New Mexico.

Jim was born the youngest child of John and Waunita Fulkersin on April 16, 1948, in Clayton, New Mexico. He attended Clayton High School and joined the US Navy in 1967. He completed his 4-year tour, was honorably discharged, and returned home to Clayton. He married Loraine Alford and moved to Plainview, Texas where he attended college, and later moved to Forth Worth, Texas where he graduated from Southwest Baptist Theological Seminary in 1977. He served as the pastor of the Fort Worth Baptist Spanish Mission for several years. He and Loraine had 3 sons Shane, Bobby, and Monte. Jim later continued to serve the Lord by helping people as a social worker for the state of Texas. Jim and Diane were married on February 14, 1993 and settled in Palo Pinto, Texas until 1998 when they moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico and Jim took a position with the state. In 2004 Jim and Diane moved back to Clayton and Jim continued his career in social services with the state and served the Clayton community. He retired in 2015. Jim was preceded in death by his father, John Fulkersin, his mother Waunita Burcham, his brothers Robert and Bill, and his sister Colleen Lookingbill.

He is survived by his loving wife, Diane, his sons, Shane, Bobby, and Monte, grandsons Bryan and Zack, granddaughter Ashely Fulkersin and great-grandsons Holden Wray, Oliver Cody Fulkersin, and Dorian Rizzo, nieces and nephews Paula, Ted, and Harley Lawrence, Connie Sheets and Tammy Kimber and a sister-in-law, Peggy Fulkersin.

Jim loved the Lord and served him through his service to mankind and praised him through music. He always told us “The only thing you can leave in this life is a good name and everlasting faith in Christ the Lord”
