Semelina Salazar, 96, who passed away on Sunday, July 21, 2024, at Brookdale Senior Living in Lafayette, LA.
Interment will be in Wagon Mound Cemetery in Wagon Mound, New Mexico on August 1, 2024 at11:00 am.
Semelina Salazar, was born December 25, 1927, in Wagon Mound, NM and was a long-time resident of Raton, NM. After high school, she received a Bachelor’s Degree in Education at University of Wyoming and started her career educating high school students. As a devoted member of the Missouri Synod Lutheran faith, she established a spiritual foundation in her life. Family meant everything to Semelina and she leaves a legacy of love and will be deeply missed.
Semelina is survived by her daughter, Romona Vaughn and Richard Swick, significant other, of Siloam Springs, AR; her two sons, Samuel McPeek, of Lafayette, LA and James McPeek and his wife, Shelly, of Loves Park, IL; her eight grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as numerous dear nieces, nephews, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel and Piedad Salazar; her three brothers, Solomon Salazar, Zebedeo Salazar and Simon Salazar and her four sisters, Soraida Lujan, Clorinda Garcia, Senida Salazar and Patrocinia Martinez.
