In Loving Memory of Teles Duran
Teles Duran (99) passed away December 3, 2023, in Chandler, AZ after a brief illness.
She celebrated her 99 Birthday in September 17, with many family members.
Teles Duran was born to Samuel and Emma Tafoya in Palo Blanco, New Mexico
She is survived by her daughters: Carol Cunico, MaryLou (Daniel) Apodaca.
She has three Grandchildren: Lonnie Cunico (Jennie), Michelle Johnson (Eric), Joana Apodaca, also preceded in death by beloved Grandson Daniel Apodaca.
Four Great Grandchildren: Marcus Cunico, Sydnee Cunico and Aesyn Apodaca, Matias Apodaca.
Preceded in death by Husband Phil Duran.
Sister to Easter Briseno, Ernest Tafoya (Gloria Tafoya), and Lydia Kawa
Preceded in death by Brothers: Ben Tafoya, Rudy Tafoya, Eloy Tafoya, Sisters: Dora Fernandez, Virginia Lopez.
She was under the care of Hospice the last few months and many told us she was a special lady and favorite to many.
She became an awesome baker while working as a baker for Furrs Cafeteria, and in her later years was a Foster Grandparent program at Raton Public Schools.
Teles was very proud of her beautiful flower gardens while living in Raton, loved making her special tamales, empanadas and making her chokecherry jelly with help from here beloved brother Ernie.
The holy rosary will be recited Friday, July 26th at 11:00 and funeral mass to follow at 11:30 at St. Patrick/St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. Burial will be held Saturday, July 27th at Palo Blanco
Rest in Peace Sweet Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Sister, Aunt and Friend to many.
