Small but Still Impressive 2024 Run for the Wall Rides Through Raton Saturday

100 or so riders filed into Raton Saturday morning May 18, 2024 on their way to Washington DC for the annual Run for the Wall commemorative ride to remember those who gave the ultimate sacrifice for this country.

Run for the Wall is held for those who can’t, The motto “We ride for those who can’t”. is often seen or heard by those making the trip. They came through Raton Saturday morning with about 100 bikes on their way east. Raton Fire and Emergency Services along with Raton Public Service teamed up to hoist the American flag above Clayton Road to show those rider the support that Raton has for the event.

The Independent Riders of Raton had goodies along with water and coffee at the Raton visitors center for the riders after they fueled up at the Conoco Station on Clayton Road. Riders then mounted up and headed to their next stop in Limon Colorado.

Officer Quintana takes a picture for the Santa Fe Motor Cops who escorted the Run for the Wall participants to Raton Saturday. New Mexico is the only state that provides a State Police escort through the state and other agencies also participate in this special event.
RFS Chief Anthony Burk and City Manager Rick Mestas were presented with a plaque for the support Raton shows to the Run for the Wall event.

The Raton Independent Riders provided water, coffee and other goodies to the riders during their fuel stop in Raton Saturday morning.
Raton’s Second Street roared to life Saturday morning as the Run for the Wall participants headed north through Raton on their way to Colorado on Saturday.
