Robert Whitnell Gillespie, age 87, passed away on March 27, 2024, at Touchmark Memory Care in Prescott, AZ due to complications from Heart Failure.
Robert (Bob) was a lifelong resident of Colfax County until moving in 2018 after retiring from ranching east of Springer at Gillespie Livestock CO.
Bob was born in Raton, NM on May 8th, 1936, and graduated RHS, before serving in the US Army Reserves during the Korean War. He then graduated with a BA from Colorado State Univ. where he also met and married Merna Jean Hess Gillespie, his wife of 63 years. He served on many committees, counsels, and boards while ranching for most of his adult life.
Bob is preceded in death by his parents, George and Helen Gillespie, his brother Phil Gillespie, and his wife Merna Gillespie.
Bob is survived by: his son Jeff Gillespie of Clovis, NM, and his children, Jada, Devin, and AJ, along with 1 great grandchild Dominic, and 5 step great grandchildren, son Randy Gillespie of Ash Fork, AZ, his wife Kate, and daughter Gabby. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at the First Methodist Church in Raton, NM on Saturday, April 13th at 10:00 AM followed by burial service at the Fairmont Cemetery in Raton.
Pallbearers: David Walker, Jeff Burton, Devin Gillespie, AJ Gillespie, Jeff Gillespie, and Randy Gillespie.
