Bea was born September 5, 1936, in Trinidad, CO to the late Guadalupe and Margaret (Silva)
Lucero as the youngest daughter among four other siblings who affectionately nicknamed her
“Batch.” In addition to being a loving mom and grandma to her only daughter, Gaylene, and her
two granddaughters, L’oren and Ayden, Bea was a devoted sister to Carm McLaughlan. Their
retirement in Trinidad brought them the opportunity to reside together again and strengthened
their enduring bond.
In her early career, Bea was a librarian at Carnegie Library in Trinidad, instilling a love of books
for herself, her daughter, and granddaughters. Later, she moved to Denver as a switchboard
operator for the Bell Telephone Company before it was divested. Afterward, she served in
other various administrative positions for AT&T in Arizona and Texas that spanned over 25
years.
Bea was an exceptional cook and baker and her homemade dishes and goodies brought
much delight to work and family gatherings. She was also an avid Dallas Cowboys football fan
with an extensive knowledge of the game and her successful picks often rewarded her with
winnings from local newspaper contests. She had a knack for bargain shopping and unique
finds, as well as enjoying a lifelong fascination for all kinds of baubles and beads. Family and
friends will remember Bea for her gentle, kindhearted nature, warm smile, and humorous
storytelling.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by siblings, Gertrude “Tudy” Ann Lucero,
Orlando “Lon” Leo Lucero, and Elroy “Roy” Bernard Lucero.
She is survived by her daughter, Gaylene (Sean) Tierney, and two granddaughters, L’oren (Britt)
LaRiviere, Ayden Tierney; and her sister, Carmen “Carm” McLaughlan.
