Viola Marie (Vasquez) Ruiz, age 84, died on Friday, March 29, 2024, in Amarillo, Texas.
The Rosary will be recited at 6:00 PM on Wednesday, April 3, 2024, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Clayton, New Mexico and Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Thursday, April 4, 2024, with Fr. Joseph Baltz as celebrant. Burial will follow in the Clayton Memorial Cemetery by Hass Funeral Directors of Clayton, New Mexico.
Viola Marie (Vasquez) Ruiz was born on July 23, 1939, in Chacon, Mora County, New Mexico to Florentino Vasquez and Antonia (Romero) Vasquez. Viola married Felix Angelo Ruiz on October 6, 1971, in Clayton, New Mexico and he preceded her in death on November 17, 2015. In addition to her husband and parents, Viola was preceded in death by 1 Son, Felix Ruiz, Jr., 1 daughter, Irene Roybal, 1 son-in-law, Frank Roybal, 2 brothers, Henry Vasquez and Leroy Vasquez and 3 sisters, Florida Hurtado, Rosa Romero and Jesusa Sanchez. Viola was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Clayton.
SURVIVORS:
2 Sons: Richard “Ricky” Maestas of Clayton, New Mexico, and John Maestas of Dumas, Texas.
2 Daughters: Mary Ann Rodriguez and her husband Ernesto of Amarillo, Texas, and Carolyn Valencia of Dumas, Texas.
1 Daughter-in-law (wife of Felix, Jr) Eunice Cano of Dumas, Texas.
17 Grandchildren and 16 Great Grandchildren.
2 Brothers: Florentino Vasquez and his wife Alice of Chacon, New Mexico, and Jose Vasquez and his wife Esther of Wyoming.
2 SISTERS: Barbara Dominguez and Seradia Mestas both of Clayton, New Mexico.
And numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
