Thomas Fred Sakariason, 78, passed away on Monday, March 18, 2024, at home surrounded by his loved ones.
Thomas was born on November 30th, 1945, in Trinidad, Colorado, to the late Helen Laughlin. He was the youngest of three children; two preceded him in death, Bernadetta Laughlin Ruth (Frank Ferraro). Thomas played baseball for Primero High School, was educated at the Trinidad Catholic High School, and graduated in 1964. Two years after graduation, he was drafted to Vietnam and served three tours in 1966-1969 with the United States Navy. His ranking in the military was the “2nd Class Petty Officer on the USS Buchanan Destroyer.” After his return from Vietnam, he joined the Trinidad Fire Department from 1970-1977. From 1977-2002, he joined the Burlington Railroad until his retirement in 2002.
Thomas loved to play his crossword puzzles, get coffee in the morning, let his granddaughters paint his nails, spend time with his family, and make sure the dogs (Bella, Duke, and Lucy (Suzy) were taken care of. He was a loving and caring father, grandfather, and father-in-law, always thinking of others first.
A huge thank you to Dr. Jimenez, Mt Rose Hospice, and all the medical staff who gave support, love, and unconditional care to Tom.
Thomas leaves to cherish his loving memory for his family and country. Thomas
leaves behind his son Theodore, Daughter-in-law Desiree, Granddaughters Aubrianna (Clayton Mitchell), and Jessica, His extended family Jerry, Becky, Stephen, Aaron, and Cynthia, Steve, Vicky, Tyra (Kaylee & Kholee) Megan (Tommy & Mackenzie), Chelsea (Nate, Emma, Liam & Riley), one aunt, nephews, numerous cousins and friends.
PLEASE NOTE: Scriptural Services will be held Thursday, April 4, 2024, at 10 AM at the Comi Home Chapel Inurnment will follow at the Trinidad Catholic Cemetery. The family respectfully requests privacy during this most difficult time before and after the funeral. They wish to express their gratitude to everyone for their kindness and concern. God bless!
