The Lady Tigers hosted the Pojoaque Elkettes at Jim Wade Field Wednesday afternoon March 13, 2024 for a double header match up after a cold rain/snow pellet shower rolled through the area to delay the game slightly while the boys took on Tucumcari at Gabrielle Field.
Game one of the double header saw Raton take the early lead only to loose it in the second inning after a bad throw started a Pojoaque scoring streak. Raton however wasn’t to be denied and came back strong scoring four in the second to make it a 7-6 ball game. Raton then rallied and sent eight around the horn scoring runners after loading the bases twice in the inning.
Solid hitting and good defense kept Raton dominating the game and after five innings they were up 20-10 to call the game on the 10 run rule after five.
In the second game of the double header it would be a slow start for Raton after Pojoaque started the scoring with one run in the first and added another one in the second. In the second inning Raton would simply take off and with the help of a grand slam by Giana Marez would have an 11 run scoring run and add seven more in the third inning to end the game with the 15 run rule after three innings.
