Robert Joseph “Bob” Podzemny

Robert Joseph “Bob” Podzemny, age 88, died on Monday, March 11, 2024, at his home in Dalhart, Texas.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, March 16, 2024, at the Sedan Community Center in Sedan, New Mexico and a meal will follow. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Hass Funeral Directors of Clayton, New Mexico.
Robert Joseph “Bob” Podzemny was born on November 13, 1935, in Canyon, Texas to Otto Joseph Podzemny and Anna (Basetzney) Podzemny. Bob married Lundy June (Johnston) Podzemny on February 13, 1964, in Claude, Texas and she preceded him in death on January 26, 2018. They lived in Amarillo, Texas, and Sedan, New Mexico. Bob owned several feedlots over the years, including Double-A Feedlot, Union County Feedlot, Clayton Cattle Feeders, and his last one 7H Cattle Feeders. Bob had some very loyal employees who stayed with him for over 20 years. He was also a partial owner of Nortex Feeders in Hartley. He farmed in the Sedan and Clayton areas and Sedan was his home for 50 years. Bob and June started a development in Amarillo that bears street names, Lundy, Blenheim, Chatham, Union, Dallam, Ashton, R.J., and Joseph as a tribute to their families. Bob and June were instrumental in helping establish the Hollywood Road Community Church in the Greyhawk development and Bob was baptized by the church in 2004. In addition to his wife and parents, Bob was preceded in death by 4 brothers, Ervin Podzemny, Edgar Podzemny, Oscar Podzemny, and Charles Podzemny, and by 2 sisters, Ann Erdman and Elsie Fluegal.
SURVIVORS:
Bob and June were God’s Parents to Doug Podzemny.
Eugene Podzemny was Bob’s nephew and was only three days younger than Bob, they were raised together and were closer than brothers.
And numerous nieces and nephews.
MEMORIALS: The family asks that memorials be made in Bob’s memory to the Sedan Fire Department.
