Robert Wilbur Martin, 78, passed away on Wednesday, February 28th, 2024, at his home in
Trinidad, Colorado. Rob was born on July 17, 1945, in North Bergen, N.J., to Howard and Ruth
Martin. He is survived by his children: Allison Sandlin nee Martin, Scott Sandlin, Dana Paine
nee Martin, William Moran, Nadya Moran, and his grandchildren Tayler, Brielle, Rylee, Logan,
and Kaeden. Additionally, he is survived by his sister Marilyn, and numerous nieces and
nephews.
Rob harbored a deep passion and love for music that spanned every genre and era. A musician
in his youth, he joined the Navy in 1965, serving in the Vietnam War and receiving an honorable
discharge in 1968. For 25 years, he worked as a terminal manager at “Ward Trucking,”
dedicated to providing for his family. In 2001, Rob moved to Trinidad, Colorado, to be closer to
his children and became an integral part of the local business, Trinidad Builders Supply. Upon
retiring at the age of 76, he spent the rest of his days in the calm and peace he longed for.
As per his wishes, Rob was cremated on Friday, March 1st, 2024, and his ashes will be
distributed among his children and grandchildren. There will be no funeral services, in
accordance with his wishes. However, his family encourages anyone who knew and loved him
to celebrate his life and friendship in their own way. Rob will be missed and remembered by
everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
