It didn’t take long for the Lady Blue to apply the pressure and simply dominate the game Friday night in Roy as they coasted to a 36 point win over the Lady Red Devils to take the District 5 1A championship trophy.
Roy/Mosquero came out strong working the ball and making the points out scoring the Lady Red Devils by double digits in the first half of play. The trend continued into the second half as the Lady Blue extended their lead and forced the a running clock. The Refs let the girls play and as a result only Abigail Eppler had three fouls for her play under the basket. Springer took advantage of their trips to the charity line only missing two fouls out of nine attempts. The Lady Blue didn’t fair quite as well at the line going eight of 13 attempts.
As the final buzzer sounded Roy/Mosquero won the game 68-32 and the teams congratulated each other. The Trophy presentation followed and they will wait to see how they place in the state tourney brackets on Sunday. According to Superintendent Ed Fluhman Roy/Mosquero should host the first round game in Roy Friday night.
