Kim (French) Marchet was born in  Marysville, CA, February 6, 1953. The family later made their home in Raton, NM living in Yankee.  She graduated from Raton High School in 1972 and entered Denver University seeking a nurse tech certification.  Upon program completion, she worked at Miners Hospital as a surgical nurse tech.  She later entered her passion and career of ophthalmology working for Dr. James Lee in Raton,   Southern Colorado Eye Institute and Rocky Mountain Lions Eye Institute both of Denver.  Kim was forced to retire due to arthritis health complications in September 2013 from Rocky Mountain Eye Center of Raton.

Kim had an adventurous spirit and enjoyed many hobbies throughout her life including reading, baking, listening to music, sewing, crafting, gardening, a love for antiques, and socializing.  She loved people, and it showed.  Some of her fondest memories were from days and nights, water skiing and drag racing all over the country with family and close friends.  She was particularly proud of her nieces and nephews, never missing an opportunity to share their accomplishments. Kim never failed to share how much she loved and appreciated her husband Dennis.

Kim was preceded in death by her parents Rex and Shirley (East) French of Yankee, NM.  She is survived by her high school sweetheart, life partner and husband of 52+ years, Dennis Marchet, brothers Reid French and wife Sue of Lenoir City, TN, Rhet French and wife Renee of Pueblo, CO, Rand French and wife Terry of Roswell, NM, brother-in-law John Marchet and wife Marilyn of Colorado Springs, CO, sister-in-law Mary Lou Kern of Maxwell, NM, numerous beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The family wishes to express heartfelt gratitude to Robin Pilley of Anvoi Hospice for her comforting and compassionate end-of-life care.  In lieu of flowers or donations, the family asks you donate to Anvoi Hospice of Taos or New Mexico Alzheimer’s Association. Services and a celebration of life for Kim (French) Marchet will be announced at a later date.

Arrangements for Kim (French) Marchet are under the direction of the Alderette-Pomeroy Funeral Home.

    My deepest condolences to the Family of Kim. She was always a very nice person. We went to school together. Very sad to learn of her passing.
