George Matthew Romero

George Matthew Romero age 40, Received his wings on January 19, 2024. George was born on March 15, 1983 to George Romero Sr. and Mary Alice Martinez-Zamora in Trinidad CO, and resided in Raton, N.M. He is survived by both of his parents his sister Vannisa Valdez of Pueblo CO, his three brothers Levi, Patrick and wife Ravyn and Derrick Romero all of Raton. His sons George Romero III of Oklahoma, Jacob Romero and Matthew Romero of Idaho, and Grandson Ennex Romero of Idaho and 3 other grandchildren of Oklahoma, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He is also survived by his grandmother Lucy Martinez of Santa Fe N.M. Priscilla Martinez Romero of Colorado, aunt Kathy Martinez of Raton and Uncle Lawrence Martinez of Santa Fe N.M.
George is preceded in death by his paternal grandfather Levi Romero, maternal grandfather Desedrio “Jerito” Martinez and Uncle Joe Paul Martinez. Anyone who knew George would remember him for his kindness and closeness with his family and undeniable love for his sons. George had an unbreakable bond with his brothers, wherever George was there they were. He was known for his talented drawings and had a passion for basketball. George will be deeply missed by all who knew him and loved him.
Recitation of the most Holy Rosary will be Friday, February 23, 2024, at St. Patrick’s / St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Raton followed by Mass of Christian Burial Friday, February 23, 2024, at St. Patrick’s/ St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Raton with Father Bill Woytavich as the Celebrant.
