Raton High School students into the Top 100 New Mexico State nominations for the US Presidential Scholar
District and school leaders nominated 600 outstanding 2024 graduating seniors for the US Presidential Scholars Program, one of the highest national honors a high school student can receive. Dr. Arsenio Romero, Secretary of the Public Education Department and his committee chose the top 100 students from the 1st application go around to forward to the White House Commission on Presidential Scholars. The White House Commission makes final selections based on students’ academic accomplishments, school, and community involvement, the arts, and career and technical education fields. From these 100 New Mexico students, the White House Commission will narrow the field through 4 different selections and will ultimately chose 3 students to travel to Washington DC in the summer to meet President Biden and the New Mexico congressional delegation.
