In Loving Memory of Charles (Chuck) Simpleman

Charles (Chuck) Simpleman, lifelong resident of Trinidad Colorado, passed away after a short
illness on January 20, 2024. He was 78 years old.
Chuck was born on January 8, 1946, to LeRoy and Rose Simpleman. He was the fifth of six
children. After graduation from Holy Trinity Catholic High School, Chuck attended Trinidad State
Jr. College, and then Adams State College where he received his B.A. in education. He later
received his master’s degree and Type D Certificate from Western State College.
Chuck worked for Trinidad School District #1 as a teacher, coach, principal, and transportation
director. He retired after 34 years of service and was able to spend his later years with his
beloved wife of 56 years, Jackie Simpleman.
He was a devout outdoorsman and loved spending his days hunting geese, deer, turkey, and
elk. He also enjoyed making sausage, spending time with his children and grandchildren,
gambling, and visiting his many friends in the Trinidad area. No one was a stranger to Chuck.
He was preceded in death by his mother Rose, father Leroy, and brother Robert Simpleman.
Chuck is survived by his wife Jackie; his two children Nicole Schlup and Doug (Linda)
Simpleman; six grandchildren Courtney, Brittney, Ashely, Evan, Devin, and Blake; siblings Sister
Rosaleen Simpleman, Barbara (Joe) Dwyer, Louis (JoAnn) Simpleman, and Rosalie (C.J.)
Amato.
A funeral Mass will be held on February 1, 2024, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, at 10:00 AM.
To celebrate his life, Chuck requested that you consider wearing camouflage, blaze orange, or
your favorite plaid/flannel shirt to his service.
A reception and celebration will immediately follow the funeral mass at the El Rancho.
Because of Chuck’s dedication to special needs children, in lieu of food or flowers, the family
requests donations in his name be made to Adam’s Camp at www.adamscamp.org, or checks
