Paul Mitchell, sunrise May 5, 1968, sunset December 19, 2023.
Paul passed away unexpectedly in Santa Fe NM. He graduated from Maxwell High School. Paul was a highly skilled carpenter; he built many houses in the Raton area. He moved to Alamogordo NM where he ran his own business for many years, Paul Mitchell Home Builders. Paul was proud of the fact that many said, “he was so talented, that he could build a house from the ground up, without any blueprints.” Paul had recently moved to Santa Fe NM and reunited with his high school sweetheart Diane Tapia.
Paul is survived by his children Rachel Mitchell-Valdez and husband Chuck Valdez of Santa Fe NM, Alyssa Mitchell of Rio Rancho NM, Angel Roybal and Cross Roybal of Albuquerque NM, Destany Mitchell and Desirae Mitchell of Pueblo CO and David Kear of Springer NM. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Daisy and Dawson Mitchell of Pueblo CO, Santana Roybal of Albuquerque, Jacob Romero, Joseph Romero, and Marduc Mitchell of Santa Fe NM. By his sister Luella Smith of Springer NM, Anna Portillos of Franklin TN, Cipriano Portillos of Albuquerque NM, and Adam Mitchell of Raton NM.
He is preceded in death by his mother Fritize Mitchell, his brother Johnny Portillos, and his two granddaughters Jasmine and Jennsie.
Services will be on January 12, 2024, at 11:00 am at St Patrick St Joseph catholic Church. A luncheon will follow at St. Joseph Parish Hall. Burial will be at a later date.
