Jennie Rosalia Martinez

Jennie Rosalia Martinez, 102 of Raton NM passed away December 26, 2023, surrounded by her family in the house she called home for over 68 years.
Jennie was born May 3, 1921, in Raton to Alejandro and Manuelita Bargas. She was raised in Raton, where she met and married the love of her life Charles Martinez. Jennie was a young bride when she moved to Koehler in 1937, returning to Raton with her family in 1955 to spend the rest of her life.
Jennie was a devoted and loving mother and grandmother. Her passions were her family, cooking, sewing, and crocheting. She enjoyed baking and her empanadas were matched by none. She enjoyed traveling to visit her family near and far. Jennie will be dearly missed by her family and those who knew her.
Jennie was preceded in death by her parents Alejandro and Manuelita Bargas, sisters Eva Romero and Mary Martinez, brother Pete Bargas, her husband of 68 years Charles Martinez, daughter Dolores Urioste, son LeRoy Martinez, grandson Joseph Martinez and niece Erlinda Martinez.
She is survived by her daughters Marcella and husband Ronald Laube of Cave Creek Arizona, Yolanda Martinez of Albuquerque NM, Phyllis Martinez of Raton NM, grandsons Mack Urioste of Albuquerque NM, Carlos Urioste of Denver Colorado, Donald Martinez of Albuquerque NM, Anthony Laube of Glendale Arizona, great grandchildren Brianna and Alexander Laube, and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank home caregiver Leanna Downey, home companion Debra Sandoval and hospice nurse Robin Pilley for the care they gave Jennie.
Recitation of the Most Holy Rosary will be on January 10. 2024 at 11:00 am at St. Patrick’s/St. Joseph’s Catholic Church followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 am with Father Bill Woytavich as the Celebrant. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
